You are submitting work for the 2025 contest.

The Prism is the annual student writing and art competition at Ferris State University sponsored by the Department of Languages and Literature. Any current FSU student is eligible. There are cash prizes in each category, and winners will be honored at an awards banquet in the spring as well as in print in The Prism journal.

Previously published work is not eligible for the competition. You may enter one submission per category (two for poetry or art).  In order to submit to the Freshman/Sophomore categories, you must be a Freshman or Sophomore at the time of your submission.  Likewise for the Junior/Senior categories.

You must be a freshman or sophomore at Ferris State University at the time of your submission to be eligible for this category.

Length: 750-1500 words. You may submit one entry in this category. An "essay" is a paper written without formally documented research. If your paper includes research, submit it in the "research paper" category.

Art

  You must be a currently enrolled student at Ferris State University at the time of your submission to be eligible for this category.

  All online entries must be quality scans of original artwork and may be in any medium including acrylic, oil, water color, pen and ink, etc. Please scan your work at 300-600 dpi.  TIFF is the preferred file format.  For JPG files, save as maximum file quality. GIF files are not accepted. If you need help scanning your work, please contact us at prism@ferris.edu.

You may submit more than one entry; please fill out a separate form for each submission.

Photographs and materials published or protected by copyright laws will not be accepted.
